: Does the NRC (National Research Council in Ottawa) still f
: ly/operate their T-33A C-FSKH ex RCAF21379.
I spotted the plane outside the NRC hanger on the arrival day (Friday) before the weekend of the 2002 Ottawa International Air Show. It was a beutiful day, and I would have loved to have photographed this rarely seen Silver Star, but there was a damn chain link fence between me and the T-Bird. At the time they were in the process of moving aircraft out of the hanger to be on status display during the airshow. I was hoping that the Silver Star would be one of the airframes on static display.
The next day was horrible. I bought two tickets to the show in advance (the last time I will every do that), so we rolled the dice and decided to wait until Sunday. The weather was just as bad on the Sunday. The rain was falling almost in the horizontal, my father in-law was holding a umbrella to shield me from the rain while I got a few pictures. Unfotunately the Silver Star was not on static display that day. I don't blame them as I wouldn't leave a T-Bird out in the rain if I had one. So no pictures that day.
I expect that the T-Bird is still with the NRC. I get the impression that when the need arises the apprpropriate airframe is reactivated, just like with the Harvard this past summer. We may yet see it at an airshow, but don't hold your breath as it may take a while!

Mike
