Wow!,look at this old girl!.This is a genuine Propellor Blade off a Curtiss P-40G Kittyhawk Fighter plane circa 1941.I was going to have a "War Scene" painted on one side by an Artist of a Kittyhawk bearing down on a Japanese fighter plane, and i was then going to mount it on my lounge room wall.Anyway, never got around to doing it.I have included a photo of the American Warhawk version to give you an idea of what these fighters looked like. This Propellor blade is made of forged Aluminium and has corrosion on both sides(not very deep),but does have gouges on both sides and under base where it looks like someone took this blade off with a sledge hammer. There are no visual cracks. This Prop stands approx 161cm tall,23cm wide, the base diameter is 12.5cm and this baby weighs 23kg so POSTAGE IS NOT AN OPTION.Here is what is written under the base:- DWG-No-89301 CHD-G SER-No-21886 SER-No-AC-41 96009 HEAT TREATMENT No-2577 FORGE No-??can't read DEPTH-?? can't read. Also has a fancy CURTISS Trademark. The CHD-G stands for:- C=CURTISS H=HOLLOW SHAFT D=ALUMINIUM BLADE G=MODEL OR DESIGN NUMBER. Thankyou to David Crotty,Curator, RAAF Museum Point Cook, for the above information. Here is your chance to grab a rare piece of Australian Aviation history!BUYER TO ARRANGE COURIER OR PICK UP IN PERSON FROM KORUMBURRA 3950.PAYMENT BY CASH/MONEYORDER ONLY.
