I am on the same page as you Tim... Even though I missed seeing the Corsair at Oshkosh I believe that the Corsair would rank higher than the Staggerwing. The pictures I have seen of John's work on the Corsair have me in awe. Make the pictures black/white and you have factory photos! Also having assisted in the restoration of a Staggerwing I do know the amount of work that goes into one. But... unless the Staggerwing looked just like the factory brochure... no Learjet looking IFR panel... no extra chrome all over... as far as being very authentic I dont think those two could be judged the same way. This might just be a move by the judges to "mix things up alittle." What are the judging standards? Are they judging a "great restoration" or "authentic" aircraft? Just my thoughts...
