museum that had been restored from a wreck of an unknown (the USAF had it's ID as RCAF 5390) RCAF machine. However, while it may have looked like a Hurricane, it certainly was not constructed like one internally.
Then the USAF Musuem decided that they wanted it restored a bit better to static/airworthy like condition. Anyway Hawker Restorations got the job.
Well somewhere along the line, it was realised that more source Hurricane material was needed. So another static restoration project (UK based) was purchased and the best of the 2 were combined into 1 static.
Now as the second is a bit of a 'bitsa' one, ex-russia bits, and any bits that were 'non-airworhy'. So giving it an ID is a bit problematic. Though Warbirds Directory vol4 has a stab at 3 different IDs!
This went back to the USAF museam and is now on show
Well thats the way I heard it anyway...
