I tend to agree Steve. Although the number of static aircraft compared to other shows, even Geneseo, was quite low, I was still very impressed. There is much real estate in the airfield which could be used for parking aircraft, as is done at Geneseo, i.e. they have the space to expand.

There were excellant viewing positions for photographing taxiing aircraft.

The entry, parking, and exit were efficient and smooth. Even the concession stand line-ups moved along.

Steve Tournay stopped by my house on his way to the show to give me a ride, we were in the first 10 cars on site. We made a B-line for the Spit for static pics (very few people around). Michael Potters WACO was also parked there, and made an impressive static display in the morning light.

On Sunday Steve and I again hooked up again to swap a few pics and look through photo albums. It occurred to us that if we went out to Uplands (Ottawa International Airport) that we may be able to watch the jets taxy out to do their displays at Carp. Good idea. We arrived too late for the CF-18 to take-off, but we did see the F-86 and A-10. Steve was waiting for the CP-140 Aurora to taxy by when I had to leave. So something to keep in mind for next year.

In summary Carp show was quite nice, and there is potential for it to grow. I recommend you pay attention in future years.

Regards,

Mike
