Pat,

Considering that Dick Hansen owned both the P-40E and an F4F-3 Wildcat, and that they were both based at Aurora in 1995, I'm guessing that's what you observed. The Wildcat is Bu 12260. Funny thing is that a photo of that bird is found in the upper left-hand corner of the "Wildcat" directory of this website (Painted as "F-3", red/white striped tail), but when you click on the Bu. Number it indicates no photo is available!

Curiously both Mr. Hansen's P-40E and F4F-3 were primarily restored by Blackhawk Aviation (northwest of you over in Jamesville, WI).
