Hi!
The attached image is a picture taken into
D.H. Vampire FB.6 LN-JET's left air inlet.
It shows the centre/inlet area of the radial compressor.
The "vanes" in the centre is curved in a way that can give the impression of it being the first stage in an axial flow compressor.
