That is because you DID not get recreate the recovery disk after installing IE6.. You ought to recreate it after each major software and service pack install. Because it is a point in time solution.. It recovers back to the point in time you created it.

BTW if you use the recovery disk to repair the computer you need to reapply all service packs again afterwards
