Bristol Hercules engine parts

The Ferrymead Aeronautical Society has recently (late July 2003) come into the possession of the contents of two shipping containers of Bristol Hercules engine and propellor parts.

These items were packaged up after purchase from the SAFE Air disposals, upon the retirement of their Bristol Freighters. For some reason the shipment did not take place and the containers were returned to a container yard where eventually the contents were emptied out and placed in open storage (in their wooden crates)

Some years have since elapsed and so some of the crates have deteriorated but due to the standard of the internal packaging only some materials have suffered some superficial damage.

We have not opened all the crates but a selective inspection reveals cylinder valve sleeves, induction and exhaust manifolds, prop domes and spiders, oil sumps, inter cylinder baffles, specialist tooling (some calibrated for Hercules/Centaurus and other Bristol engines) and many other unidentifiable components in their Bristol packaging of plastic bags and cardboard boxes.

We are unable to store the items and so wish to move them on to suitable homes soonest. We do not have the time nor resources to catalogue all the items and so will only be able to entertain communication from peoples wanting a broad range of materials. We have reluctantly set a deadline of early 2004 to move the items on or otherwise scrap them.

Please communicate this information to any parties you might be in contact with who may either be interested in these items or know persons who may be and ask them to contact us soonest.
