The PR XIX is like most Spitfires, using parts and sbassemblies from "the bin" to arrive at a different solution to the design problem. The aircraft has a modified XIV fuselage with the pressure cabin of the VII and the wings were modified PR XI. These wings are actually Mk V bowser wings with leading edge tanks, and during the restoration of the POF XIX, it was clear that some of the data plates on the ailerons and wing panels were stamped Mk V!
