The Best ?
Different things to different people..
The AWM machine is probably for me the best of all Lancs flying or not in as much as it has the "best" service history and means a lot to Australia given it's provinance.
It was not however as complete or as well preserved as you would imagine and that's one of the reasons it was given the treatment recently to rectify damage and "outsourcing" that occured since the war but I believe it is pretty spectacular now although I haven't seen it since the rebuild.
However I can equally say that most of the others are equally important as they all illustrate a time long since gone. I am for instance very happy that someone (the french) are restoring the Wallace island wreck as I was sure that this would have rotted away otherwise. I am less excited that some relics are being treated less than desirably. A couple of the Canadian airframes need a little more attention (and what about the Beaufighter sitting outside for decades - a disgrace if there ever was one) and although Kermit Weeks has gathered the parts he has their time in the UK was less than a stellar sucess but at least they will be preserved.
