On the face of it, it seems like a huge hoax. Let's face it, the warbird community ain't that big, and for no-one else to be aware of these birds for 55+ years is pretty unfeasible. Looks like the PR boys should have listened to you and saved themselves some embarrasment...

BUT

Just wondering... IF (and it's a huge IF) Mr Meyer's actually got this stuff, maybe he's heard $4m bandied about for the Finnish Buffalo, and thought "Hang on, why am I donating this stuff when I can get my whole retirement fund from it?". Re-submits his offer, at say $3m for the Buffalo, at which point the museums cool off considerably seeing as this was previously a 'free' offer.

Just a thought (albeit fuelled by a few beers...)
