I just got the name wrong. It was MAPS as you said. I'm still trying to recall who told me about the "Arizona Buffalo" years ago. I remember having a conversation back in the late 1980's with Robert Lammerts in Oklahoma City. I shared what I had heard about the supposed Buffalo survivor and he staunchly criticized the rumor, responding that the Buffalo had gone the way of the dinosaur :)
