Sort of related to this is a yes story and a please request.
I'm the project leader on Hudson NZ2035 at Ferrymead and recently we obtained the majority of a Boulton-Paul type C for it by way of a swap with the Melbourne Australia B24 project. But how they got it was pretty in much keeping with your question it sort of went like this
>-
>- hello
>- do you guys collect gun turrets off aircraft?
>- sure do
>- well someone's just thrown one in me dumpster so if you get here by 5pm it's yours
amazing in this day and age!
however now the request....does anyo9ne have or have access to a manual? any help much appreciated.
:Hi all,
:
: The earlier post on the Whitley turrets got me thinking. P
: ersonally I think the aircraft turrets as used in the bomb
: ers of WWII is very fascinating technology and every time
: I see one on display in a museum or installed in a bomber
: it attracts me like a moth to a flame, but I would like to
: know are there still turret cupolas being found in use as
: garden cloches or otherwise and is there some sort of web
: site or similar on the total number of the various turrets
: surviving today?
:
: Cheers
