: I would like to concurr John Parker's post. A really great
: achievement. I have known Barry for more than thirty year
: s and have visited the project a number of times since 198
: 7. Although as yet unreported, the aircraft has sold and i
: s now at the aero industry school at Brisbane joining the
: crash remains of TE566 from South Africa. Over the long te
: rm there is now the prospect of one or even both of these
: aircraft returning to the air.
: Although configured externally as a MK VIII masquerading i
: n 'Brit' BoB camouflage, the forward fuselage is actually
: a Mk V machine recovered from Kiriwina Island in 1977. Ext
: ensive research of the 79 Sqd RAAF records indicate beyond
: reasonable doubt that the machine is LZ844. Recent confir
: mation period photos of it, dismantled at the No. 12 Repai
: r and Salavage Unit after recovery on Kiriwina, add furthe
: r proof.

Thanks for the update
Really funny thing is that I live in Brisbane!!!!!!! - so I guess I dropped the ball big time here. Do you happen to know which aero industry school as there are a couple of possabilities. I will try to have a look and keep us all appraised as progress is made assuming the owners don't mind. I am obviously very pleased for Barry especially as I assume it will stay here in Australia? and he will get to see it fly one day. As an aside a CAC Sabre is also now resident in Brisbane with the company who is building the new Tiger helecopters for the Australian Army. The Sabre will fly and I will try to keep updates on line for WIX on this as I think it will look pretty special when complete even if it is a Jet.
Thanks again Peter
Kindest regards
