Time for a light hearted Iraqi Fury story?

In the early 1970?s, following an initial inspection I and Canadian Don Plumb made of the German Seafury aircraft in Cologne, Don teamed up with fellow Spitfire owner Max Hoffman in a bid to spring the Iraqi Furies. Using the Miles Dufon connection at Shoreham, who had supplied spares, they duly trotted off to Bagdad in an attempt to ?do the business?.
Max was extremely suspicious of their reception at the airport and was convinced they were being followed and were under surveillance. On arrival at their hotel he started to check for hidden microphones and sure enough ?Eureka?, there it was under a large loose rug in the middle of the room - a brass embossment. Reaching for his penknife he duly undid the three screws holding the ?microphone?......and the chandelier in the room below fell to the floor!!
This of course was all pre Tallichet/Jurist and, for that matter for UK readers, the TV programme ?Only fools and horses?.
