Hi everybody,
I e-mialed a fellow about an ad that I saw placed for a "Zero Project", trying to figure out which one was for sale, and the fellow e-mailed back the following blurb. My questions are, does anyone know this fellow, or which aircraft he is selling. Am I understanding his statement correctly that two Zero's flying in the U.S. are currently for sale? And what about all this stuff sitting in Australia? Does anyone know any possible candidates/identities? I have e-mailed him back, but he hasn't responded yet.
Just curious, with all of the talk about P-38's leaving that area, and the difficult governmental policies, thought maybe someone here could shed some more light on the situation.
Here is the e-mail text:
"Hi Steven,
That ad should have been deleted awhile back. Craft has new owner.
What is available at the moment are;
2 Japanese Zero main wing sections with cockpit area. Recovered from where
they crashed in Indonesia. Beat to hell, nothing much to look at, but the
genuine thing. They are housed in Australia now.
The 2 flying Zeros in the USA which you may or may not know about. 1.3
million each. There is also a Mitsubishi engine now available if you want to
have it as these have Pratt & Whitney engines due to what was prudent at the
time of restoration. Lots of films, airshow, and combat history.
There is also a P-38 Lightning, recovered from New Guinea where it crashed.
Pilot made it, still alive here in the USA. Would make a good History
Channel piece on the recovery and restoration if you have the bucks to do
that. Its 220K, buyer pays shipping, all papers in order, its been
quarintined for awhile, also in Australia. 65% of craft.
There is also a P-38 mostly restored for 360k here in the states.
Sincerely,
Daniel Gialloreto"
Thanks everybody, have a GREAT day!!!
