Got to do something really unique today...fly both a 220 powered super stock Navy N2S-3 owned by Larry Tobin and a 450 powered Stearman owned by the Pemberton family. It is hard to believe these machines are based on the same airframe. the 220 loses about 400ft in a roll and the 450 can actually climb through a roll. Both are great fun and I am definetly hooked on Stearman flying. The Pemberton's, out of Spokane WA own a Boeing model 40 restoration project that is absolutely gorgeous...not to mention thier Staggerwing. We did a really complete acro routine in the 450...with smoke...close to sunset...all I can say is wow.
The bombers are running great and we are off to Boise tomorrow.
Cheers,
jim
