: : A group from the British Aviation Enthusiasts Society ca
: me
: : to our museum (Olympic Flight Museum) and airshow a few
: d
: : ays back. Various members have been to visit and fly wit
: h
: : us on three or four occasions since 2000.
: :
: : The first visit was purely by accident, they were on a t
: ou
: : r of the west coast and heading to tour McChord AFB and
: as
: : they were driving up the highway, somebody remarked tha
: t
: : they had heard there was a museum at the airport. They
: pu
: : lled up out front of the building just as I was walking
: ou
: : t of the maintenance hanger and we just happened to meet
: i
: : n the parking lot. We weren't supposed to open for a fe
: w
: : more hours but I let them all in anyhow. After about tw
: en
: : ty minutes, I mentioned that it was possible to purchase
: a
: : ride in most of our planes. I have never seen people s
: o
: : excited in my life. I called the boss and couple of oth
: er
: : volunteers for help. We drug all the planes out and en
: de
: : d up doing about twenty rides that day.
: :
: : Every trip they make here gets a little more fun. This
: la
: : st trip was the best yet. The people seem to enjoy the v
: is
: : its and it's good for the museum. I really believe the
: mu
: : seum staff and volunteers enjoy it more than anybody.
: :
: : From what I have seen, it looks like a good group for an
: yb
: : ody from Europe to be associated with. I would be inter
: es
: : ted in hearing anyone elses views on the organization.
: :
: : They just put a report on their visit and posted a few p
: ic
: : tures of our planes. I am told more will be posted soon
: .
: : Look for Olympia 2003 under the tour reports.
