In the previous series, the question was raised as to why the USAFM felt the need to rework its staic Hurricane. The following brief critique is from http://members.aol.com/k5083/hurri.htm.
In 1990 the U.S. Air Force Museum near Dayton, Ohio, acquired Canadian Hurricane 5390 from a private restorer for display. Painted in 71 Squadron markings, this machine retains the U.S. propeller with its hub covered by a particularly unattractive, distended spinner. The restoration has several other odd features including six-stub exhausts and several parts, ranging from the antenna masts to parts of the rear fuselage structure, that look as if they have been mocked-up without much research into what the original aircraft looked like. Altogether the machine is somewhat disappointing, especially for a static exhibit for which it should be possible to get non-airworthy but displayable original parts without exorbitant cost.
