: Best account I've seen is in "Foreign Invaders" by Hagedor
: n and Hellstrom. It identifies twenty B-26s used by the CI
: A by USAF s/n and the fates of many of the aircraft.
When I was at the Doolittle Raiders 61st anniversary reunion in April I had an opportunity to visit the Travis AFB museum (now to be known as the Jimmy Doolittle Museum) and while there got a bit of a tour by a volunteer. He mentioned that he had heard rumors that the B-26 there (as well as some of the other planes) had some rather interesting history which might relate to this topic. Unfortunately, he said that because the planes are apparently still USAF inventory, the full history of the aircraft's service couldn't be told. It really got me curious the way he was talking.
