the HLF, or the IWM, or the MOD - unfortunately you can take your pick of well-funded UK acronyms that have totally failed to engage here.
This issue isn't really so "off-topic", unlike the USA, the UK's historic capital ships have largely gone the way of the heavy bombers, only one has been preserved, the rest were all scrapped. Some would argue that 60 years ago a lot of good people paid for this particular item many times over, and that this now represents an extraordinary opportunity for the British state to do the decent thing and pick up the cheque.
Perhaps this almost extravagant lack of official interest is routine cold-turkey for post-imperials, but I find it astonishing that it appears to remain so well entrenched. Why, in 2003, is the British state still so unremittingly useless at this sort of thing? If an individual displayed such a affected denial of their past they'd be locked-up...
