...have you researched Singapore? A friend of mine (ex-FAA pilot) told me some years ago now that, at the end of the war, numerous almost brand-new lend-lease Hellcat IIs were loaded onto barges, towed out into waters off Singapore harbour, and pushed over the side. My friend wanted to remove the clock and dinghy out of one, but was not allowed to do so - if the UK received any further benefit from them, he was told, the US would have to be paid in full for them. They must still all be down there! Good hunting.....
