: I'm confused. What would be the point in the FHC selling
: P-38 44-27231? Isnt it in much better shape than the one
: s brought in from PNG? Would it just be for the money to
: help with other restorations?

I don't have my copy of "P-Screamers: the history of the surviving Lockheed P-38 Lightnings" by Kevin Grantham where I can reach it right now but I don't think the (ex Tallichet) FHC P-38, though flyable, ever saw combat. FHC seems to prefer examples of each type that have historical significance. Since both of the P-38s that came in from the Southwest Pacific were flown in combat we MIGHT be able to make an assumption here... And money doesn't seem to be an issue for FHC, though the sale price of the flying P-38 would sure help toward the restoration of the other two. Dennis
