Hi Tony--

Love the Reno and "The Shepherd" ideas..."The Shepherd" is one of my favourite aviation stories, beautifully written. Re the Berlin Airlift, I don't recall its title but there was quite a good film made in the Fifties about this. I had always thought the Tuskegee Airmen story would make a good film too--then such a film got made, sadly not for cinematic release but rather for the HBO cable-TV network in the USA. Pretty decent film, too.

Other ideas? Hmm...

--Three novels: Spencer Dunmore's Luftwaffe opus "Ace"; and the Martin Caidin 5th AF stories "Whip" and "The Last Dogfight" (actually both of these were slated to be filmed at one point but to my knowledge they never were).

--A Cleveland NAR film from the late 40s period (using the two Odegaard-restored F2Gs, Leeward's Mustang, et cetera).

--One for the ladies...sort of...The relatively little-known story of the all-female fighter regiments fielded by Russia during WWII (there are lots of brand new Yak-3s around...)

Cheers

S.
