Well we all know which shop rebuilt the majority of that airframe and to be honest with you, after working on and being around the B-25 and B-24 (which were both done by the same shop) the quality of the work being questionable on the Corsair does not surprise me. We have been fixing problems on those two airframes for years.
I'm with you though Rob. If the work truly is questionable then it is definately worth throwing the good stuff into the Howard and Cavanaugh airframes. I've seen both airplanes personally but only the Cavanaugh one that I can remember. I was too little to remember Howard's and he rarely brought it down to Houston. However, I thought the Cavanaugh airframe was magnificent and seeing pictures of Howard's, it look awesome too. Always liked the bulldog on the nose. I guess that was a slight take-off of the VC-3 insignia.
What is the status of those rebuilds and is there a projected time frame to completion?
