I have been told Ed Russell is planning to have Bruce McRitchie from the CWH checked out on the Spitfire. McRitchie operates a T-28 and has been instrumental in restoring and flying some of the Fleet aircraft for the CWH. Mr. Russell is also looking at buying a Harvard for pilot training.
It will be great to see another Spitfire over Ontario but lets hope Mr. Russell will show more common sence than Carey Moore did when he started demonstrating the Sea Fury. We can not loose any more great aircraft due to lack of experience. This will only hurt the warbird movement in Canada and the airshow industry.
I've heard through the grapevine the CWH are looking into acquiring a Spitfire so the prospect of seeing three Spitfires in Ontario may be very good.
