"Mr Russell, who was learning to fly, was hoping to pilot the plane "

I just hope that this "horse" is not to hot for a novice pilot...

Let's say I have the money, but no previous experience with piloting an aircaft. How many hours, and on which types would I need to be able to fly a Spitfire (or other hot warbird) with a good chance of bringing it down in one piece and also be able to handle incidenses that might occur.

Who have no realistic dreams of piloting a Spitfire but nurtures a dream of operating a Tiger Moth or Klemm 35 type aircraft.
