1. I have looked at that 2 seconds of film hundreds of times, and I still see a B-24D. This was really devastating news to me that it is not. And I didn't know Russia had a thick blue outer circle on their roundel. I really wish some of you, especially Tony, Paul and Mick could see this footage.
2. Tony, maybe you will know this one. A B-24 being flown by the group commander of 5th bomb group, 13th A.F. got shot up by Japanese fighters and crashed on Celebes Island on July 4, 1945. It was missing until some natives stumbled on to it in 1970. Our military went and got the crew remains, but nothing heard about it since. It is in inaccessable jungle 9000 ft up a 12000 ft mountain. What condition could the plane in? I think it has basically been forgotten, and being in such a dangerous area (Indonesia) would probably preclude visiting the wreck.
