Hi Cees,
You've got a good memory on those B-24 sections here in Oz, however they are at the NT Aviation Museum, in Darwin. Haven't seen them in the flesh myself, although I believe one of the sections was used as a caravan or similar. I've only seen it in an issue of Fly Past, from last year, or whenever it was. Guess that's where you saw it too.
Jeff mentioned the W.A. Mariner nose and cockpit, well there was another Mariner cockpit (didn't include the nose) and fwd. fuse. which was also used as a caravan. This was on display in the museum here in town, until a couple of years ago, when the owners took it back.
The Dornier Do-24 section, boat still exists, and would make a wonderful display piece if restored. Whilst I have seen this, I didn't get a chance to look closely with regards to likely corrosion.
There has also been at least one, but I seem to recall two, Catalina sections used as yachts. One of them apparently still had the undercarriage fitted. The owner would use it on the water, then lower the undercarriage in order for it to be towed up the slipway.
Cheers,
Matt
