The fuselage has been stripped of equipment and is on storage racks at Addison. There are a few exceptions, one of which was the turbo unit....It was stacked on a pallet made of wood and rubber tires to keep it off of the floor. Quite a large unit. Fuel cells and other items were also out. On the floor on a moving blanket was the windscreen and canopy. The metal looks ok, but all the glass is history. The fuselage had been moved to Sherman for rebuilding. One of the A&P guys got a little ticked when I asked why the bird was not going to Westpac. He said, "you don't think I can shoot a rivet? Uncle Sam put a lot of money in me to learn that." My response was, "why re-invent the wheel. They have all of the jigs and patterns". That was pretty much the end of the conversation. Knowing Doug, the paint scheme will probably stay the same. Bill Crump had a photo shoot of the new paint scheme with Doug flying the Jug before the engine woes and fire incident. Doug was showing us a print (about 18x11) at Midland in 2001 and it was awesome. Can't wait to see back in the air.. Alan Brooks
