Hmmm, don't think so, the Harvard and the Beavers have collectoir ring exhaust and they never ever backfried as loud as that T-28!

On the other hand, the Fw 149 is almost straight pipe (3 cylinders per sides for 2 pipes) and I once made one heck of a backfire with it, it was, uh, don't know how to say it English, there was too much fuel in the carb and it just refused to start, so I put full manifold until it started and it made this bang with a 4 feet flame coming out of the augmenters! But that was when the engine was not properly timed, now it runs smooth like silk!
