16 mm Film Conversion

The North Star Project, which is restoring the Canadair North Star (a DC-4 variant) at the Canada Aviation Museum, has a task to convert 16 mm film footage to digital video. I am taking on this task. Does anyone here have any experience with this sort of thing? What is involved?
