Hi Rob... actually the Quantico corsair is an FG-1A, although it has incorrect tail gear, and horizontal stabilizers. I was surprised to see that the horizontals are made from metalite, which did not appear until late -4's if I remember correctly. The incorrect tall tail gear is also in place. However, it does have the very rare belly window beneath the pilot's feet! Last November I had the privilege to crawl all over this aircraft, taking pictures of as much of the interior as possible (even getting in the rear fuselage!). This was quite an enjoyable event!
Cheers,
Richard
PS. I was told by the curator that the airframe was going to Pima, but then a few months later a close friend of mine
at Quonset said that they had secured her. Hope they find a good place for her there, as their museum is pretty cramped! They do have some remarkable airframes though, and are doing a great job with some of the restorations.
