Not at all. All aircraft that enter the judging at OSH in the Warbird category are eligable for the Grand Champion award. You cannot just enter and say you want to win best P-51. Cripes was he best airplane on the field in the World War Two category and therefore took Grand Champion, which makes it ineligable for any lesser award (like Best P-51). If he chooses the owner of Geraldine can reenter the competition this year and he would be eligable for every award above Best P-51 (which would be Grand and Reserve Grand). The top two awards always seem to be hotly contested, and many times a good airplane falls back to the Best category. It all depends on the year you enter the competition.
