Trans-Atlantic delivery flight from Canada to Britain

45 Group RAF (Dorval, Quebec) Transport Command

Mosquito B.25 KB475 - Swung to port as it took of at 1039 from Lagens (aka Lajes) airfield in the Azores piloted by Flt. Lt. J M Goldhaar (Polish Air Force). Crashed immediately after becoming airbourne at low speed and burned out. The two crew are buried at Lagens.

Also killed NZ417306 Fg Off Thomas Henry Monson RNZAF Navigator aged 31
