Last night a significant storm blew through the Dallas area and created golf ball sized hail that dumped over Addison airport and unfortunately the Collings Foundation's B-17 & B-24. Reports just came in, but it looks like the fabric control surfaces on both planes are ruined and need replacement. On initial inspection, sheet metal damage seems to be merely superficial, but as the day progresses we will be able to better tell.
What we do know is that the visit to Roswell, NM will have to be cancelled, though there is a possibility of at least the B-17 making it to Tucson if we can get ahold of spare control surfaces. The B-24 isn't as fortunate as it is not easy to find spare control surfaces for it.
If anyone has any resources that may help us in getting the planes back up and running, please contact me off the list at rkeough@collingsfoundation.org. Thanks.
