Hi all,
Just got back from the site where Halifax JB803 crashed on May 1st 1943. It's very close to where I live and I have just spoken to the landowner on whose land it crashed.
The aircraft was from 77 squadron and took off from Elvington to attack Essen. On the way back it was shot down by a nightfighter and crashed will the loss of the entire crew. One of the seven was never found and is officially listed missing.
Although the general information about the aircraft is already known locally, I am looking for any info on the crew and the days 77 squadron was based at Elvington. Ross, can you help?
Cheers
Cees
