: A few pages back, there was a little bit of a discussion o
: n the Arado E580 replica being built in Germany. This is
: pretyy interesting considering that the aircraft never eve
: n existed outside of the drawing boards. Anyone know why
: they chose this particular aircraft? And anyone know of a
: ny other examples of aircraft that never were being reborn
: ?
: And one mroe question: When Bell built the X-5, did they
: build it using the actual Mess. P-1101 or was the 1101 jsu
: t a template of sorts? Thanks in advance

The P-1101 was used as a template/inspiration only. the airframe was damaged in transit, several photos taken of the protype show extensive fuselage skin buckling.

It was scrapped at some point after the X-5 was completed
(anyone know where and when?)
