Hi all,
A bit quiet today so maybe time to stir things up!
If I understand the previous posts about the IL-2, one is due for display at RAFM Hendon.
If this is correct, does anybody know what the current collection policy is, for Hendon, as I do not see how an IL-2 fits in?
Could it be that the airframe been gifted?
If not gifted and as the type was not operated by, or flown in operation against the RAF, why secure the airframe for Hendon?
I am not criticising the Museum, as any restoration and survival of such a rare 'frame should be congratulated, I just wonder why Hendon and not Cosford or should we not be thinking of Hendon, as being specifically for the RAF.
Tony
