This happen several years ago when one of my friend, who was employee at the National Aviation Museum in Ottawa, give me a private guided tour of the museum, outside of the normal operation hours. He give to me the privilege to sit in a lot of aircraft: Lockeed 10A, DC-3, F-86, Me163, P-40, B-24, Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire mkIX and some others. I will never forget the strange feeling I had when crawling to the bomber station under the cockpit of the B-24, with a curtain between the nose wheel and me, or over the wing inside the Lancaster, thinking at these crews in the nightmare of a bombing mission over Germany, with flak and enemies fighters in a so small and noisy place. Also I will never forget the smile in the face of my friend when he removed the dummy from the Spit cockpit and after when I closed the door and the canopy over my head.
