During this last trip I was able to alot of books read. 153 hours babysitting cargo in the back of a C-17 gives you a little free time. I read the following books and highly recommend them.
Mustang Survivors by Paul Coggan
Mynarski's Lanc by Bette Page
Sigh for a Merlin by Alex Hinshaw
Thud Ridge by Jack Broughton
The Raid (The Son Tay Prison Rescue Misson) by Benjamin Schemmer
Colder Than Hell (A Marine Rifle Company at Chosin Resevoir) by Joseph Owen
Ploesti(The Great Ground-Air Battle of 1 August 1943) by James Dugan and Carroll Stewart.
My question about Ploesti is this: Is any of the wreckage of the B-24's around anymore. I know some of them landed in Cyprus and Turkey and others crashed in Yugoslavia and Bulgaria. I remember reading about a Liberator that was pulled out of the water around Turkey a few years ago. Was it from the Ploesti raid?
