Look at it this way...

The way I look at it, today's warplanes are tomorrows warbirds. I don't know how many times I wished I could travel back in time to see the first Spitfire, Mustang or Bf 109 fly (just to name a few). The fact is these types of events happen often today, and we just don't appreciate it yet as the current development aircraft just haven't had they turn in spot light yet.

I like to collect as many photos of WWII vintage aircraft as I can, as they were designed built and taken into battle during some amazing events in history and developed under mind boggling circustances. If I only had a number of pictures to add to my collection that were actually taken when these machines were in operation that would be fantastic, but such pictures are extremely difficult to come across and I only have a few. That is why I take every opportunity today to photograph every modern warplane that I can, since at some point in the future it will be difficult to come across a good quality photo taken when they were in actual operation use and not just museum pieces (not a dig to the musuems).

I just hope the F-22 makes it to production and isn't killed by politicians. I have been keeping up with it's development in Aviation Week, and it looks like it is going to be one amazing air superiority fighter. I can't wait to get my first picture of one at an airshow. The is a space reserved in my collection for my first Raptor photo.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Regards,

Mike
