Any kind of damage that might have been caused by special effects will, at worst, be only superficial. If it's the scene I remember, I think they actually might have attached a pyrotechnic to the drop tank hard point under the fuselage that would "explode" and stream black smoke. Anything done within the limits of FAA licensing approval shouldn't have caused any appreciable damage to the airframe at all. I seriously doubt this will actually be a factor.

Tallichet used one of his two FG-1D's to extrude molds for making his fiberglass replicas. I don't think this caused any real damage to the plane's skin, but I'd bet it left a heck of a sticky mess on the fuselage. I was under the impression that it was actually his other FG-1D (BuNo.92106) that was used to make the molds, but I haven't confirmed that yet. Everything I know about the Corsair he sold to Schroeder (BuNo.92132) leads me to believe that it's the best deal out there for a prospective Corsair restorer. If I had half the means, I'd be laying my money down today and hauling the airframe across the field to VadeBonCouer's place for an award winning STOCK restoration. The potential for that airframe is about as good as it gets. I only wish Butch Schroeder could have had it restored to match the other excellent examples in his stable.
