That's the infamous F4U-5 "parts plane" that's been floating around the country for the last two decades offering up little bits & pieces, aiding the restorations of other more priveleged airframes. This is the original BuNo.122179 that had its main spar partially melted in a post-crash fire following its forced landing near Houston in 1984. It was purchased last September by a Frenchman who was planning to tackle her restoration. I believe he's decided to resell the project if you know anyone who's interested. It's got the be the least expensive F4U on the market!

The P-40 on the other hand is currently being restored to fly AFAIK. It's wings are in the jigs and the fuselage looks structurally complete.
