I have met one of the guys who is attempting to rebuild a hornet...no idea if it is to fly though. He has been in contact about the remains in Canada and there are also some sparea knocking about in one of the Scandinavian countries. The 2 Merlins that have been referred to will be very difficult to buy at a decent price. The gentleman who owns them has turned down an offer of ?20000 for the pair and would rather 'break them for spares' than let them go for that price...surely the spares would be worth less than the engines? They are a matching pair and one has supposedly never been installed in an aircraft. There are definite moves in Scotland to build one...but I am not sure if these 2 gentlemen have got together and complete this as a single project.
As an aside I believe the MAM have a few tail wheels and some concrete molds for the rear fuselage of the Hornet...
