Boys,
That rear fuselage was used as a shower compartment where the section stood upright and from the top water was poured in with buckets (how did they get clean without cutting yourself on all the metal pieces sticking out). Anyway this ensured its preservation. In the side a door was cut to allow entry into this interesting contraption, which can still be seen. I never heard that it came from Delft and probably came from the locality of Twente. I believe it is privately owned so the AF have nothting to say about it. But the private organisation who used to have a museum where the Typhoon rear section was displayed are fighting in court at the moment so no developments from there for a while. I was promised a Halifax rudder pedal assembly on loan but they cannot even enter the base untill the law suit has been settled. So we will have to be patient.
Mosquito FBVI TA122 did come from Delft though (now under restoration at MAM). If all goes according to plan we will be able to visit the University again and look at some interesting bits and pieces that will have to be disposed of (to us hopefully). I have seen pieces of the Mossie's wing, P-38 engine bearer, B-25 cockpit instrumentation, P-47 cockpit instrumentation and controls set up. A Tempest undercarriage leg (Tom, please note), a rear fuselage section of a B-17 with tailwheel leg still functional, a Wellington fuselage frame with cannon hole in it, a Stirling control column and rudder pedals assembly, propblades from 109 and P-47 and more. So I can't wait.
Cees
