You have three choices:
1) For really old stuff try: the wayback Machine Web Archive, but beware this can be very slow..
http://www.archive.org
E,g.
http://web.archive.org/web/20001026050437/http://www.australianwarbirds.com.au/survivors.htm
2) Or, if more recent dead pages.. Try a google search and see if the pages are in the Google Cache...
See:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22matthew+grigg%22+aircraft
See the Cached hyperlink.....

As an example... of the Cache
3) Always try to search Google Group archives as well, their maybe a text newsgroup posting about your particular subject. They go back to 1996
http://groups.google.com
Though I warn you not to stick "Matthew Grigg" in!
