I'm not aware of any under airworthy rebuild. There is still an R-4 Chino and it may be the same one you saw but when I photographed it a couple of years ago it was located in the restoration hangar of the Yanks Air Museum. It was very complete and looks an excellent candidate for full restoration. In the last few years I seen examples in the RAF Museum, USAFM & stored with the Canadian museum at Ottawa but none of those are likely to ever fly again.
Regards, Tim
