Sorry for the delay in replying. I have had an answer ready for a few days, but no time to post it. Anyhow.
Bearing in mind that I have not seen the message which originated the query, I think the B-17 is an old chestnut which keeps reappearing every now and then, sometimes as a Lancaster (but never as a Halifax, Cees ...). The GAVS Turin chapter even sought assistance from the Alpine Troops School, but no avail.
The well known wreck is further south, in the Cuneo area, and is a 99th BG machine, 42-107016 crashed on 24 July 1944 returning from a raid on Turin. The location is known, but very little is left. Most of what could be removed has long since disappeared.
